Lazioโ€™s Pedro hits back at Jose Mourinhoโ€™s โ€˜swimmerโ€™ comment: โ€œHeโ€™s a very funny manโ€

Lazio winger Pedro has spoken about Jose Mourinho in response to the Roma bossโ€™ recent comments about the Spaniard.

Lazioโ€™s previous game saw them get held to a goalless draw by rivals Roma. After the game, Mourinho spoke about Pedro and stated that he could be a good โ€˜swimmerโ€™, referencing his simulation in the final third during the game.

A former Roma player himself, Pedro gave an interview to SportItalia recently and he was asked about Mourinho and he described the ex-Chelsea boss as a โ€˜funny manโ€™, who makes him laugh with his comments.

โ€œThat makes me laugh. Because we all know what Mou is like, heโ€™s done it in the past too.ย He says one thing, he says another.ย I remember when we won against his Real Madrid he said other things, when we beat his United 4-0, he said even more.

โ€œLast year, in the Rome derbies, he said even more. Itโ€™s always like this, when he doesnโ€™t talk about the referee he talks about the calendar, about a player who throws himself to the ground.ย I know him very well, he is a very funny man.ย I took it with great fairness because I know that he uses words to diffuse the great tension of the derby.ย I know him very well, having had him as a coach.โ€

Pedro controversially switched from one side of Rome to another in 2021, joining Lazio on a free transfer. The Spaniard himself has played under Mourinho during his time at Chelsea, featuring in 17 games and scoring two goals and racking up three assists.

Mourinho hasnโ€™t been a silent spectator as a manager and it wasnโ€™t the first time that he made comments that influencing forces over games.
