Milan join Arsenal in race for Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey

Serie A side Milan have joined the race to sign promising French right-back Sacha Boey alongside Premier League counterparts Arsenal.

According to a report from Marco Conterio, Milan are eyeing up a potential transfer of current Galatasaray right-back Boey. The future of defender is predicted to be one of the major transfer stories in Turkish football in the upcoming transfer window and the Rossoneri will aim to feel ready if the possibility of actually signing the player comes up.

Sacha Boey is a product of Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais’ youth ranks which have given rise to numerous talents over the years. He has represented France in the under-17s, under-18s and under-20s levels but is still undecided on his allegiance as he is eligible to play for Cameroon.

The 22-year-old was selected in the initial squad for the 2021 African Cup of Nations and the primary squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers but was omitted on each of the two occasions because of his indecisiveness on which team to represent in the future.

Apart from Milan, Premier League side Arsenal have also shown interest in the player. Udinese have previously tried to sign Boey but have failed and the case of the player is again set to stir up competition among several clubs.

The future of Barcelona loanee Sergino Dest at Milan is uncertain because of underwhelming performances and the club hierarchy will not exercise the right to buy at the end of the season. The departure of the USA international will leave a void in the right-back position and sporting director Paulo Maldini will certainly understand the option of Sacha Boey to fill up that gap.
