Milan make exploratory contact for new Mike Maignan contract

Milan are in talks with Mike Maignan to extend his contract, as reported by Calciomercato. Maignan’s current contract runs until 2026 and Milan want to extend it until 2028.

Initial exploratory talks have been positive, with both parties keen to progress forward. The potential new deal would see the shot-stopper more than double his wages. He is expected to go from earning €2.8 million a season to €6 million a season.

The Frenchman has been at Milan for two years after joining the club from Lille for €15.4 million. He is currently not available with a muscle injury in his thigh, but Stefano Pioli is expecting to have him back in the team within the next week or so.

Maignan is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world today and it would be a big statement of intent for the Rossoneri to lock him down for the next five years. After recently doing the same with Rafael LeĂŁo, Milan are telling the footballing world that they are aiming to stay at the top.
