Milan’s Mike Maignan shuts down baseless rumors about drug problems

Mike Maignan played his first game since September yesterday in Milan’s 2-0 win over Atalanta. It was his first official match in 157 days.

One day after he his comeback, the Frenchman has shut down rumors about drug problems. On Instagram he wrote: “My only drugs: faith, hard work and win”.

In early February, audios circulating on Whatsapp accused Maignan to be addicted to drugs and these rumours stated that cocaine abuse was the real reason behind his late comeback.

Those were the days when Milan failed to win in seven consecutive matches, including two defeats against Inter. Now, the Rossoneri are on a four-game winning streak across all competitions.

Maignan suffered two calf injuries in September and the first was picked up while he was playing for France and the second was picked up while recovering from the previous one.

He has never answered to those inferences about him until today. Recently, there was another rumor which spread around via Whatsapp and it suggested that that Theo Hernandez punched skipper Davide Calabria as he apparently slept with Tommaso Pobega’s girlfriend.

Calabria then replied to these rumors with a statement on Instagram: “We won’t accept the falseness about me and the team. Our group is fantastic and made of people who love each other”.
