Naples mayor Gatetano Manfredi has spoken about Napoli’s Scudetto win, as the Partenopei picked up a much-needed point from their away game at Udinese.
Victor Osimhen’s second half goal helped Napoli draw the vital game in Udine and celebrations kicked off at full-time, with the Dacia Arena ungulfed in a sea of blue. The celebrations were also manic at the Maradona, which was jam-packed and that is where Aurelio de Laurentiis was.
After the win, city mayor Gaetano Manfredi spoke about the Scudetto triumph to DAZN (via TMW). He stated that it is one of the most beautiful moments in the history of the city.
“I am proud of a great city, with a huge heart, an infinite passion. It is one of the most beautiful days in Naples, a joy for everyone who are the Neapolitans, even those who are outside, who are sentimentally connected to this city. 33 years ago it was a different Naples, today it is a rapidly growing, it is happy Naples that wants to play its role in the world.
“The city has given a gift to me and everyone. This joy, so great, so spontaneous, so beautiful, forms a beautiful story. Football must be a great moment of celebration, unity and happiness and the city is demonstrating great civility.”
The Partenopei last won the Scudetto back in 1990 and their successes have always been associated with Diego Maradona’s achievements. But today’s win will help the club step out of older shadows and establish new legacies for not just now, but for the years to come.
