Napoli not willing to pay over €17 million for Angers’ Azzedine Ounahi

Serie A league leaders Napoli are currently not willing to pay over €17 million for Angers and FIFA World Cup 2022 star Azzedine Ounahi.

The Moroccan impressed at the World Cup and apart from Napoli, he has also drawn links with Premier League sides such as Leeds United and Leicester City.

Alfredo Pedulla has reported that from the very beginning of negotiations, Napoli have tried to sign the midfielder for next summer and not January. Their interest and talks root back to before the World Cup and back then, the valuation of the player was €10 million but it has skyrocketed after the tournament in Qatar.

It is stated that if the player had caught Napoli’s interest after the World Cup, they would have given up already because of the auction in place. As of now, Napoli are not looking to go beyond a fixed payment of €17 million and maybe some bonuses for the player and they are cautious that the race doesn’t turn into an auction.

The journalist does confirm interest from Leeds and Leicester but Napoli are now hoping that it doesn’t go beyond that and Azzedine joins them in a summer deal.
