OFFICIAL | Timothy Weah joins Juventus from Lille

Juventus have signed Timothy Weah from French side Lille. The 23-year-old American will continue his career in Italy after a long stint in France.

Weah completed his medical tests at J|medical on Thursday and signed his contract soon after. According to Fabrizio Romano, Weah agreed a long term deal with the Bianconeri, who paid €12 million to the French side for Weah’ services. The American only had one year left on his contract at Lille.

The deal is a typical Massimiliano Allegri transfer. Weah can play with right winger and right wingback, perfect for the Juventus coach, who tends to play 3-5-2, but switches from time to time. This means Weah replaces both Ángel Di María and Juan Cuadrado, who leave the Bianconeri for free this summer.

In 107 matches for Lille, Weah found the net 8 times. The 23-year-old featured 4 times at the World Cup last winter, scoring once. He is the son of Milan legend George Weah, who’s currently President of Liberia.
