Roma advancing in move for Union Berlin’s Leonardo Bonucci

Serie A giants Roma are advancing in a move to bring Leonardo Bonucci back to Italy in January.

The Giallorossi’s defensive crisis has harmed them this season, with Chris Smalling out for the long term due to a muscle injury. The club started with Diego Llorente, Gianluca Mancini and Evan N’dicka in the 3-5-2 against Napoli, with no other recognised defender on the bench.

They have been linked with a move for Bonucci and sources have informed Get Italian Football News that the Giallorossi are advancing in a move for the Italian, who joined Union Berlin from Juventus in the summer following a rather controversial exit.

Talks between Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto and the player’s entourage and agent Alessandro Lucci are at an advanced stage. While the isn’t done yet, things look fairly positive.

It has been previously reported that Bonucci is seen a cheaper option by Roma, as he would likely have his contract terminated by the German club.
