Roma boss Jose Mourinho criticises Renato Sanches: “He is always at risk, it is difficult to understand.”

Roma manager Jose Mourinho has given his honest views about new midfielder Renato Sanches, stating that his situation as a player is difficult to understand.

Sanches joined Roma on an initial loan deal in the summer but he has struggled to get going for Roma, having struggled with injuries. Even in his stint at Paris Saint-Germain, he had struggled with injuries and the same was the case during his time at Lille and Bayern Munich.

Even today, Sanches picked up an injury in the first half and was replaced by Leandro Paredes and it  is already his second injury at the club.

Mourinho spoke to Sky Italia (via TMW) and he had something to say about Sanches. He stated: “He’s a player who is always at risk. It’s difficult to understand. Bayern didn’t understand, PSG didn’t understand and we struggle to understand. He’s a great player who needs to play. The last match he played 45 minutes, he had three days of rest and preparation, he was fit to play and after 45 minutes he felt something.”

This isn’t the first time that Mourinho has publicly spoken about Sanches and his injuries, as he had talked about this even after his first injury earlier in the campaign. It remains to be seen whether the midfielder was actually Mourinho’s signing or whether he was someone that Tiago Pinto wanted.
