Serie A side Roma have released a statement that condemns any potential creation of the European Super League.
Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla have already released statements saying that they would not take part in the Super League, with Bayern Munich maintaining their stance that they would not join either.
Serie A side have now condemned the idea, stating that they do not seek to promote the Super League and they do not promote it as it is an โattackโ on the current leagues and the way the footballing structures currently operate. They seek to adhere to the so-called โvaluesโ of European football.
The statement, in full, states:
โThe club in no way endorses any so-called Super League project that would present an unacceptable attack on the importance of the national leagues and the foundations of European football.ย
AS Roma believes that European footballโs future well-being can only be secured through clubs working together through ECA in strong partnership and collaboration with UEFA and FIFA.โ
Roma were not part of the initial ESL project in 2021 and that included only Juventus, Napoli, Inter and Milan, with Juve having gone all the way their stance but Andrea Agnelli has already left the club and he was a key figure in putting forward the idea of the Super League.
