Stefano Pioli after Milan’s draw v Lecce: “I don’t have an explanation, it can’t be bad luck”

Milan manager Stefano Pioli seemed short of words after the Rossoneri’s disappointing 2-2 draw at Lecce.

For a long while, it seemed as if Milan were going to seal three points, but the second half proved disastarous for the Rossoneri. Goals from Nicola Sansone and Zambian star Lameck Banda made sure that Lecce came from back two down to grab a point.

They had actually scored a late goal to win it, but the goal was disallowed as there was a foul in the build-up to the strike. After the game, Pioli spoke to the reporters during the post-game press conference (via TMW) and he had no evident expalanation for the failure to win.

He said: “At the moment I don’t have an explanation, it can’t just be bad luck, playing so much and with this stress the risks increase but we are suffering a lot.”

With Inter yet to play their game, Milan are already five points off the top of the table and are drifting away from challenging for the title and are in a difficult position in the Champions League table.

On the gap in the table, Pioli said: “We have to improve, in some situations we were penalized by the result, here and in Naples we had a double advantage and we brought home two draws. We have to be more concentrated for all 95 minutes otherwise the championship would become difficult.”

The Rossoneri have not won even once in their last four games in the Serie A and their last win had come against Genoa, with Olivier Giroud’s heroics having denied the Rossoblu a goal.
