Victor Osimhen has stated that now is not the right time to think about his future, as Napoli sealed the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.
Napoli needed a point from the game at Udinese and a goal from Osimhen made sure that they picked up 1-1 draw in Udine. While the celebrations were manic at the Dacia Arena, the jam-packed Maradona went ballistic not just when Osimhen scored but also when the Scudetto was confirmed.
Osimhen has enjoyed a sensational season and he has now gone past Samuel Eto’o for the most number of goals by an African player in a single Serie A season.
After the title win, he spoke to Sky about the achievement and stated: “I’m thrilled with this victory. I’m happy for me, for the team and for the fans. I can’t wait to come back in Naples to embrace our fans, even though tonight I already felt the warmth of the people. I’m happy for all the Neapolitans. I scored the Scudetto goal, it’s true, but anyone else could have scored it.
“I feel like a leader and I never give up. Future? Now I want to enjoy this historic moment, this is not the time to think about my future. Spalletti is a great coach, he asks us a lot but he is like a father to all of us. He always manages to motivate us and he deserves this title”.
The Nigerian has been linked with a host of clubs over the last few months and that includes the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. It was recently reported that United and Bayern Munich might not be able to afford the Nigerian, with Real Madrid also in the race.
