Victor Osimhen increasingly distant from new Napoli contract

Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen is now going increasingly distance from signing a new Napoli contract, despite previous speculation.

The 24-year-old’s agent revealed yesterday and they could take legal action against Napoli for posting an objectionable video about the striker and this came after Osimhen had a verbal confrontation with manager Rudi Garcia when he was substituted in the game against Bologna.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that the video released on TikTok and the annoyance of Osimhen’s entourage is only the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to his situation at Napoli. The striker was keen on leaving Napoli in the summer but when Aurelio de Laurentiis rejected an approach from Al Hilal, Osimhen decided to stay.

There is a certain amount of unease with Garcia and there are certain misunderstandings with the Frenchman. More than that, Osimhen himself was left offended by the video posted by the club’s social media team and he personally asked them to remove it. The club’s social media team informed Osimhen that they didn’t mean to offend him, but the player had already informed his agent Roberto Calenda by then.

When it comes to his renewal, it hasn’t been agreed yet. In the last few days, Calenda was waiting for Napoli to respond to requests put forward by him but they haven’t responded with anything yet. The current situation has also hampered relations between the two parties, with a January exit currently a lingering possibility. The fact that Osimhen’s current deal at the club runs out just over a year later will make sure that his price is lower in January.
