Antonio Conte reveals why he chose to become the new coach at Napoli

Antonio Conte has been talking to the media for the first time since he became the new coach of Napoli, as he was officially unveiled at the Palazzo Reale this afternoon.

The former Inter, Juventus and Italy national team coach, was a controversial choice in the eyes of many, but the 54-year-old was clear why he had chosen one of the most difficult jobs in European club football.

“I chose Naples for the project,” he declared, before going on to state that he had, “Signed for three years” and that with the help of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis he wanted to, “Make Napoli great again.”

The Partenopei, who were Serie A champions in 2023, had a season to forget last term which saw them produce the worst defence on a Serie A title in Italian football history and fail to make it into any of the European spots for the new campaign.

Conte also claimed that the new project had given him, “Enthusiasm” and made him feel “Something in my gut.”

The man from Salento will soon get to work with his new charges when Napoli players return for pre-season training in early July.
