Fiorentina keen on Genoa boss Alberto Gilardino

Serie A side Fiorentina are keen on having Genoa boss Alberto Gilardino as a replacement for Vincenzo Italiano.

The current La Viola boss, who could yet guide the club to consecutive Coppa Italia and European finals, is expected to depart at the end of the campaign. This will leave the club looking for a replacement.

La Gazzetta dello Sport state that Italiano is currently likely to join Napoli in the summer and Fiorentina see Gilardino as someone who is capable enough of replacing him. His name has been circulating at the club, who believe that Gilardino has certain qualities in mind that they want in a manager.

Gilardino also has a bond with the fanbase and the club already from his time as a player and his staff has Dario Dainelli, who captained La Viola for many years. While Gilardino is currently only thinking of Genoa and ending the season with the club, things could change and accelerate towards the end of the campaign.
