With news breaking that Genoa forward Mateo Retegui is set to sign for Atalanta, the Rossoblรบ are looking for reinforcements of their own.
Genoa want to bring Giovanni Simeone back to the club and have already been in touch with Napoli about a possible purchase, as per Gianluca Di Marzio.
Genoa would be open to a loan move for the forward but Napoli are not so keen on that option. Simeone, who is a full Argentina international, spent some time at Genoa in 2015/16 in what was a pretty successful spell. Perhaps he would be the perfect replacement for Retegui but Genoa will need to show Napoli a serious bid to get him out of the club where he won a Serie A title.
Simeone impressed in the Scudetto winning season with a very healthy goals per minute ratio but he has never managed to be a regular as a striker.
