Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez can win the Ballon Dโor this season.
Guardiolaโs City take on Inter tomorrow in their Champions League opener and both sides will be looking to make a winning start. Inter have already been held to two draws in the Serie A season and come into the game at the back of a drab 1-1 draw against Monza.
Having said that, Martinez is back fit and Guardiola was asked by Italian reporters about the Argentine, his qualities and whether he can win the Ballon Dโor or not.
He said, as relayed by TMW: โYes, maybe. But I hope that a player from our team can win it. He is an extraordinary striker, he can score, he can do many things: he is the captain of Inter, he plays for the world champion Argentina. You have to be a special player to do certain things.โ
Martinez won the Serie A last season and was the topscorer in the division, having also played a key role in Argentinaโs Copa America win under Lionel Scaloni in the summer.
He hasnโt started the season off in the best way possible but he is slowly catching upto speed.
