Giufreddi has released some his statements, stating that talks remain ongoing with both parties amidst rumours suggesting that Al Shabab have made an offer already.

He told: “I categorically deny that an agreement has been reached for the renewal of Politano with Napoli. The question is still open. Everything will be decided after the Super Cup. Today President De Laurentiis and I met Al-Shabab in Riyadh, which is still strongly interested in the player. The final decision on Matteo’s future will be made in the next few days.”

Politano has impressed for the side this season and he has been one of the club’s better players this season. He has contributed to ten goals in the Serie A, assisting once and scoring once in the Champions League as well.
