Max Allegri on his future after Juventus’ win over Lazio: “The coach is evaluated by results”

Juventus boss Max Allegri has spoken about his future at the club after the club’s 2-0 win over Lazio in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.

The Bianconeri had lost 1-0 to Lazio at the weekend in the Serie A clash involving the two sides. But the Old Lady picked up a huge win in the context of the season today, as they beat the Biancocelesti 2-0 in the first leg of the Coppa Italia, taking a big step towards the final of the competition.

After the win, Allegri was asked if the win is a big one for his future at the club as well. The Italian admitted that his future would be decided by results.

“We still have open objectives. We are fighting for the Italian Cup final and to qualify for the Champions League. If we are out of this on May 25th it will mean that the season has not been up to par. The team has done its duty and has demonstrated a great sense of responsibility. The coach is evaluated by results and those must be achieved. When there are no results, the first on the gridiron is the coach. We must try to win and improve.”

It has been reported that Allegri’s future at Juve isn’t certain in the long-term. The Old Lady would have to finish inside the Champions League for Allegri to stay and winning the Coppa Italia could guarantee his stay. If they do not finish inside the top five, Thiago Motta would be seen as a key replacement.
