Parma Returns to Serie A: Iconic Italian Club Rises Again After Turbulent Times

One of the most iconic Italian football clubs, Parma Calcio 1913, has made its return to Serie A football. Now, with a chance to build on its great history, the club will hope to achieve a noteworthy resurgence after experiencing years of turbulence. The teamโ€™s reemergence has brought hope to fans.ย

However, given the teamโ€™s absence from top-flight football, its odds of securing a top-half finish currently stand at an average of approximately +75,000 among major online sportsbooks. For anyone looking to get in on the action, experts warn that taking the offshore route should be handled carefully and preferably via reputable sites like SportsCastingโ€™s list of safe gambling sites. As offshore iGaming sites often attract scammers and hackers, players should be careful to only play on platforms that have been deemed secure by professional reviewers.ย

According to sports betting expert Graziella Calleja, these sites prioritize fairness, so we can expect these odds to be adjusted accordingly based on Parmaโ€™s performance in the upcoming season. Speaking of the approaching seasonโ€™s start, the teamโ€™s journey to getting back into the Serie A was far from easy.

Parmaโ€™s recent return to the Serie A has come with a renewed sense of purpose. The teamโ€™s management has worked hard to develop a sustainable model that balances their ambitions with financial prudence.ย ย

Weโ€™ve seen this with the investments Parmaโ€™s management made into developing young talent coupled with acquiring the likes of Fabio Pecchia, the experienced coach who helped the club make some great signings.

This approach has helped the team build on a good foundation, which has seen its odds of getting relegated slim at various online gambling sites. Those odds now hover at around +155, meaning they arenโ€™t amongst the teams considered most likely to go down.

However, Parmaโ€™s recent success isnโ€™t new as the team has a storied history in Italian football, dating back to 1913. Back then, the team mostly played in the lower divisions. However, the team would later go on to secure many domestic and European trophies.ย

Parmaโ€™s golden age took place in the 1990s when it made it into the Serie A and clinched eight major trophies, including the UEFA Cup. Unfortunately, the dawn of the 2000s saw the team run into some dark times as the company that owned the club, Parmalat, fell into ruin in 2003.ย

That resulted in the teamโ€™s instability for years. This instability took place on and off the field, with ownership changes, escalating debts, and relegations. By 2015, the club had to declare bankruptcy and ended up playing in Serie D, a fourth-tier division.

Luckily, this wasnโ€™t the end for them though as they rose again in July 2015 under a new name, thatโ€™s currently known as Parma Calcio 1913. It took the help of local businessmen and the support of loyal fans but the club managed to achieve back-to-back promotions, making its way back into the Serie A in 2018.

The clubโ€™s return to the Serie A was challenging though, as it had to compete with the financial powerhouses of Italian football. This resulted in Parma getting relegated in 2021 after three seasons. The teamโ€™s return to the first division has again become a symbol of its indomitable spirit as a club that never stops overcoming adversity.
