Following the Giallorossiโs infuriating 1-1 draw to Monza at the U-Power Stadium, Roma boss Ivan Juric provided his insight on his sideโs performance in the stalemate whilst on the road.
After having been in total of control of the match and continuously attempting to barge into Monzaโs third of the pitch, the capital club broke the deadlock in the 61st minute of play as former Girona forward Artem Dovbyk found the back of the net utilizing superb composure and individual skill to get by three markers in the build-up to the goal, increasing the Ukrainian internationalโs tally to three goals in seven games-played.
However, the celebrations were cut short as winger Dany Mota stunned the Giallorossi in a very short matter of time after coming on from the bench in the 63rd minute of play, sealing the equalizer in the 70th minute to help coach Alessandro Nestaโs side obtain a point against Roma.
As it stands, the Giallorossi sit in ninth place with a total of seven points, three points adrift from fourth-placed Lazio. Tensions rose as the capital club feel robbed from an opportunity to seal all three points as Tomasso Baldanzi was seemingly fouled in the box, but the challenge was quickly dismissed from the refereeing staff, forcing Juricโs side to settle for a draw.
Whilst speaking into the microphones of Sky Sport, via TMW, the former Torino boss provided his perspective of the match:
โWe played a great game, controlling many goals which however must be scored, allowing very few chances for Monza. I saw a beautiful team, you win these games easily, but today it goes like this. The penalty completes the job, but the performance was of a high level. They shot three times, it can happen that you can concede a goal, for sure you have to score.โ
The goal conceded?
โWhen you concede a goal there are mistakes, thatโs okay. They shot three times, the goal can be conceded but we have to score more. We went soft here, sorry.โ
ย So much effort to score and then you get caught again. Is he angry?
โNo, it happens. We didnโt change our attitude; we didnโt feel like we were conceding the goal. We were concentrated, it happens. Then we continued to attack, sorry. Monza were put in difficulty, we missed the last pass and the final shot: we created a lot.โ
ย A first assessment?
โWe obtained 7 points, 9 were right: we raised the level, I see good things. The team has a lot of potential, with many young people and an old guard to raise everyoneโs level. We only suffered with the throws to Djuric, as everyone can do a good job.โ
