Roma & Fiorentina locked in talks over Belotti-Ikoné swap deal

The respective boards at Serie A rivals Roma and Fiorentina have opened negotiations over a potential January exchange deal.

That’s according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who has this evening provided an insight into the details of the situation.

The two players at the heart of the discussions are Andrea Belotti and Jonathan Ikoné. With differing priorities for their respective frontlines over the 2nd half of the campaign, the hypothesis of a swap which would see Belotti land in Florence, and Ikoné take his talents to Italy’s capital, has been proposed.

New Roma boss Daniele De Rossi, for his part, is eyeing reinforcements out wide, with Ikoné having been earmarked as a leading target.

With Fiorentina eager to add to their own options at centre-forward, Belotti has in turn been offered up to head in the other direction.

Talks are ongoing between the respective boards, with Di Marzio having confirmed that any potential deal would come in the form of a pair of loans, featuring options to buy in the summer.

Details remain to be ironed out on the financial side of things, with Belotti understood to earn considerably more than his attacking counterpart in Florence.

But hope remains on the part of all parties that an agreement will ultimately be found, ahead of the Italian transfer window slamming shut on January 31st.
