Roma make contact for former Milan sporting director Ricky Massara

Serie A side Roma have made contact with former Milan sporting director Ricky Massara to discuss a new role at their club.

According to a tweet by Daniele Longo, former Milan sporting director Ricky Massara is in contact with Roma over a potential role. The Giallorossi sporting director Tiago Pinto has faced tough times with manager Jose Mourinho and club authorities over signings and it looks like that time is up for him in the Italian capital.

Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini were sacked from their positions as sporting director and technical director respectively following a tense meeting with Rossoneri owner Gerry Cardinale last summer.

Milan brought in world-class players like Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez and Fikayo Tomori for their side during the Massara era. The 55-year-old played an influential role in negotiations, always sweetening the deal diplomatically and recognizing transfer market opportunities earlier than his competitors.

Meanwhile, Tiago Pinto is set to leave the club at the end of the January transfer window. Roma know that they require an experienced person at the helm of negotiations and market operations, therefore they are aiming to capitalise on Ricky Massara’s availability now.
