Roma monitoring Everton defender Ben Godfrey

The transfer team at Roma are giving consideration to a surprise proposal for a member of the defensive setup at Premier League outfit Everton.

That’s according to Il Corriere dello Sport, who have on Monday named Ben Godfrey as a potential target on the part of the Giallorossi.

It is widespread knowledge that the Stadio Olimpico brass are on the lookout for fresh blood at the back, with a view to the 2nd half of the season.

In turn, a whole host of stoppers have been tipped as potential arrivals in Italy’s capital.

And Godfrey, it is claimed, is the latest name to have been added to the shortlist of Roma chief Tiago Pinto. After pulling out of a move for former Juventus standout Leonardo Bonucci, Jose Mourinho and co. have earmarked Everton man Godfrey as a low-cost target.

The Englishman has been afforded minimal game-time at Goodison Park across the season to date, meaning Everton would likely be open to his exit on suitable terms.

Roma will therefore seek out an agreement over a half-season loan, potentially featuring an option to buy in the summer.
