Roma target Angeliño rejects pair of clubs ahead of incoming Giallorossi bid

The powers that be at Serie A heavyweights Roma are ready to push ahead with a move for RB Leipzig star Angeliño.

That’s according to transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, who has today provided an update on developments behind the scenes at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Giallorossi, it is understood, have identified left-back as an area of new boss Daniele De Rossi’s squad in need of reinforcement with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign.

With funds tight, however, the Roma brass will need to be creative in order to get a deal done.

And here is where the aforementioned Angeliño enters the picture.

Former Manchester City man Angeliño is currently in the midst of a loan spell with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

However, with the Spaniard’s terms in Istanbul entailing that one more appearance in Gala colours will trigger an obligation to buy from RB Leipzig, the former have come to the decision to freeze Angeliño out.

Roma, in turn, are ready to take advantage of the situation, by negotiating a loan deal of their own with Leipzig.

Di Marzio points towards a temporary agreement being discussed through the summer, featuring an option to make the deal permanent for a fee in the region of €5 million.

Angeliño himself, meanwhile, has already rejected offers from both Real Betis and Olympique Marseille, having given his word to Roma and De Rossi as he remains keen on a Serie A switch.

Elsewhere, the capital club are also keeping a close eye on Empoli talent Tommaso Baldanzi, albeit in the knowledge that a move would only be possible in the case of funds being raised through sales, first.
