Roma’s Gianluca Mancini could be banned for unfurling anti-Lazio flag

Roma defender Gianluca Mancini could be at the receiving end of a ban for having unfurled an anti-Lazio flag after the Giallorossi’s Serie A win over their local rivals.

A Mancini goal was enough to down Igor Tudor’s men at the Olimpico, as Roma remained well and truly in the race for the Champions League spots and stayed at fifth in the table and only three points behind fourth-placed Bologna. But it was Roma’s first derby win under Daniele de Rossi in the Italian’s first derby game as manager.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have stated that Mancini could be banned for unfurling an anti-Lazio flag, which had a rat inplace of the club crest. The gesture from the defender hasn’t gone unnoticed, as players were left angry by it at the end of the game.

Mancini could now be disqualified or fined for his actions. It is likely that an investigation will be opened into the case and the maximum suspension that the defender could get is potentially one game. In similar cases before, players have been fined and those fined weren’t actually heavy either.
