Serie A side Roma put in a very spirited performance in the Europa League against Premier League heavyweights Tottenham, holding them to a 2-2 draw.
Spurs had opened the scoring through a Heung Min-Son penalty, which came as a result of Mats Hummels’ error. Evan Ndicka had equalised later, but Spurs went ahead through Brennan Johnson later in the first half.
Roma put in a very good showing in the second half and got their reward in stoppage time as Hummels redeemed himself with a back-post strike to hand Roma a vital point in London.
Leandro Paredes impressed in the tie and he spoke to Sky Italia about the game. He told, as relayed by VoceGiallorosa:
“We played a great game, we are strong: we have lived two difficult months, we hope to continue like this”.
On his thoughts about the game and what Claudio Ranieri’s side have done, he said: “For me everything has changed, they have been difficult months, I have suffered a lot. We are alive and we can do well.”
He also spoke about his relationship with Ranieri and he had praise for it, saying: “The relationship has been very good from the beginning, we hope to continue like this. We are strong, we can improve.”
As a result of the game, Roma are now at 21st at the table and have to win more games to qualify directly to the next round of the competition. Spurs, meanwhile, are at ninth.
