Former Inter and Roma forward Romelu Lukaku is on the cusp of crossing the line towards his desired move to be integrated within Antonio Conteโs Napoli side.
Whilst it remains clear that both the Belgian and Italian tactician are eager to work together after the two had a successful two-year run together at Inter, in which they seized the 2020-21 scudetto, in which Lukaku snatched 24 goals and eleven assists in 36 matches played within the Serie A, Chelsea and Napoli have struggled to reach an agreement regarding the transfer fee.
A key factor in overcoming the stand-stillย was the sale of Victor Osimhen, as the Nigerian international has no intentions to remain with the Partenopei and his sale would provide Antonio Conteโs side more than enough cash-flow to finalize the deal.
However, the potential moves to Chelsea and PSG have not materialized at the moment as both sides are not too keen on meeting owner Aurelio De Laurentiisโ evaluation of โฌ130m, which is the 25-year-oldโs release clause.
Despite the sale of Osimhen not having followed through on numerous occasions, it seems that there may be away to acquire Lukaku prior to selling the former Lille forward.
Sky Sportโs Lucca Marchetti reports that at the moment (via CN24), only โฌ10m separates both sides as Napoli offered โฌ25m, whilst the London Blues demand โฌ35m for the 31-year-old marksman.ย
A possibility exists that the two clubs can shorten the gap and reach common grounds prior to the sale of Osimhen, allowing Conte to attain his primary candidate as the successor of the Nigerian international prior to the start of the season.
