TOP THREE PLAYERS | Salernitana 1-2 Atalanta

These three players in particular caught the eye during the Monday evening clash between relegated Salernitana and Champions League chasing Atalanta:

Ademola Lookman – Atalanta

Lookman was a nuisance going forward for Atalanta. He displayed some seriously quick feet, way too quick for the Salernitana defence on many occasions. Not least on the stroke of half time when he was chopped down in dangerous fashion by Triantafyllos Pasalidis; who received a yellow card and was then subbed off at the break.

A weaving run at the start of the second half gave Lookman a great sight of goal, but he pulled his shot wide of the post. On another day he might have both scored and assisted but Atalanta’s victory spared him any blushes. He was a key player for La Dea on Monday.

Loum Tchaouna – Salernitana

The French winger was a handful today. Anytime the home side created something Tchaouna seemed to be in the middle of it. His opening goal of course was crucial, but he was a thorn in the side of the visitors throughout.

Salernitana only had a few breaks on goal and little possession but Tchaouna was always lurking on the counter and always involved whenever Salernitana were making progress up the pitch. He nearly scored a late equaliser out of nothing for the home side. If the Frenchman doesn’t wan’t to play in the Serie B with his current team next year, then today was a decent advertisement for potential buyers.

Gianluca Scamacca – Atalanta

Gianluca Scamacca was a handful for Salernitana and their backline on Monday evening. The Italian international stretched the opposition effectively and was fantastic in his build up play with his back to goal.

On more than one occasion Scamacca would receive the ball with the defender tight to his back, hold it within his stride and then spin and dart towards goal. He linked up well with Lookman and provided the all important equaliser to get Atalanta back on track.
