All eyes on Lorenzo Lucca with Rasmus Højlund set to miss Inter clash

When Lorenzo Lucca signed for Napoli in the summer, a lot of people expected him to become the first choice striker for them in a short span. Instead, the reality is that he could become third choice. An underwhelming start at Naples coupled with the form of Rasmus Højlund has meant that Lucca is already not a starter with Romelu Lukaku still to come back into the squad.

But it is expected that Lucca shall start in Napoli’s blockbuster game against Inter this weekend, especially given that Højlund is ruled out for the game. Both Napoli and the player individually need a strong performance after PSV Eindhoven thrashed them 6-2 in the Champions League midweek, in which he got sent off.

Lucca has scored just once in the league but a strong performance against Inter could help him get back into Antonio Conte’s good books and strengthen his case for becoming a starter. Recovering the form he showed last season at Udinese will go a long way in making that happen.
