Analyzing Interโ€™s transfer business before the start of Serie A

Inter were in a difficult position at the end of last season. They had a great season but lost the Serie A race in the last day of the season and got humiliated in the Champions League final. Simone Inzaghi left and Cristhian Chivu has come in to replace him. Letโ€™s take a look at their transfer business.

Major incomings:
โ€“ Luis Henrique, Right Midfield, From Marseille, โ‚ฌ23m
โ€“ Ange-Yoan Bonny, Centre-Forward, From Parma, โ‚ฌ23m
โ€“ Petar Suฤiฤ‡, Defensive Midfield, From Dinamo Zagreb, โ‚ฌ14m
โ€“ Nicola Zalewski, Left Midfield, From AS Roma, โ‚ฌ6.3m

Major outgoings:
โ€“ Aleksandar Stankoviฤ‡, Defensive Midfield, To Club Brugge, โ‚ฌ9.5m
โ€“ Tajon Buchanan, Right Midfield, To Villarreal, โ‚ฌ9m

How have they done? :

One of Interโ€™s main targets perhaps would have been to reduce the average age of the squad a little but they havenโ€™t done it particularly well. Bonny has a potential to become one of the best strikers but right now he is expected to play second fiddle to Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram. Petar Sucic is a good signing in midfield and Henrique and Zalewski provide depth and fresher legs. Yann Sommer, Yann Aurel Bisseck and Hakan Calhanoglou were all linked with moves away that havenโ€™t happened.

What remains to be done? :

There are two major details Inter are looking to complete โ€“ Manu Kone from Roma and Atalantaโ€™s Ademola Lookman. It remains to be seen if they are going to be signed and if they are, where they are going to play. However, one thing is for sure, both Kone and Lookman will lift the team a lot, something Inter were perhaps intending to do at the start of the window.
