Club Brugge star Nicolo Tresoldiโ€™s father: โ€œHe considers himself Italianโ€

Club Brugge star Nicolo Tresoldi has never played in Serie A and has played for Germany U21s already, but his father has suggested that the player considers himself Italian.

The 21-year-oldโ€™s Belgian side take on Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, with Tresoldi having found the back of the net in Club Bruggeโ€™s opening game against Monaco.

He joined the club back in the summer, after having spent the entirety of his youth football days at Hannover.

His father โ€“ Emanuele, spoke to TMW about the talent and said: โ€œClearly, having lived in Italy for 13 years, he considers himself Italian, but at the same time, heโ€™s integrated into Germany, learned the language well, and lived there a lot.โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s certainly an example of internationalization, and thatโ€™s crucial in todayโ€™s football: the more experience you gain abroad, the more you adapt to different cultures, the more languages โ€‹โ€‹you learn. And you bring with you a wealth of knowledge to treasure. Clubs themselves also consider these aspects, because players like him fit in more easily with their team.โ€

He also revealed that the forward is a massive Milan fan and it was passed down to him by his own father-in-law.

โ€œHeโ€™s a huge Rossoneri fan. His passion was passed on to him partly by my father-in-law, and partly by AC Milan itself, which at the time boasted players like Kakร  and Pippo Inzaghi. Pippo was his first idol; he could already say his name as a child.โ€

Speaing further about Tresoldiโ€™s background, his father said: โ€œWe lived in Gubbio, where we still use it as a base, but with my father-in-law, a golf instructor in Sardinia, we had a home there, and Nicolรฒ was born in Cagliari. My wife works in civil aviation, and at the time for an airline, so we decided to gain experience abroad. And so we moved to Hannover, Germany. Nicolรฒ was 13, and shortly after, he joined Hannoverโ€™s youth team, and it all started from there.โ€

Emanuele himself has played for Atalanta in the past and he spoke of Club Bruggeโ€™s upcoming tie against La Dea.

โ€œAt first glance, I was speechless when the draw was made. You think about how incredible fate is. It has a certain effect on me, I admit. And Iโ€™m excited. Because of my past at Atalanta, and the fact that my son will now be playing there. Plus, my wifeโ€™s family is from Bergamo, so it will be a particularly heartfelt match.โ€

So far this season, Tresoldi has scored five times in all competitions already, assisting once.ย

At Hannover last season, he scored seven times in the 2.Bundesliga, earning a move to Belgium.
