David de Gea on Fiorentina future: โ€œIโ€™m having a lot of fun in Italian footballโ€

Serie A side Fiorentina picked up a 2-1 loss against Real Betis in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League semi-final and goalkeeper David de Gea spoke after it.

The Spaniard was beaten spectacularly by former Manchester United teammate Antony, who used his right foot to volley into the top corner. It proved to be a vital goal, as Fiorentina were pushing for an equaliser till the very end of the game and they have second leg to play.

De Gea has been impressive for La Viola this season and he was asked about his future by FirenzeViola right after the game ended.

He stated: โ€œI take it day by day. Iโ€™m very happy in Florence and Iโ€™m having a lot of fun in Italian football. I hope to get the best with my group.โ€

When asked about the Antony screamer, De Gea stated that he could not see the ball because of a player who was standing infront of him and blocking his view.

โ€œThe attackerโ€™s position didnโ€™t allow me to see the ball. Then I donโ€™t know if I would have saved it, but I didnโ€™t see the ball go.โ€

De Gea is likely to sign a new deal at Fiorentina, with the clubโ€™s owner Rocco Commisso having already expressed to desire to renew.
