Fiorentina’s rising chaos: club in blackout, Paolo Vanoli’s future in doubt

The position of Fiorentina coach Paolo Vanoli is in serious jeopardy after the team’s latest defeat against Verona, a result that has plunged the club into a deep crisis and prompted the hierarchy to take immediate, drastic action, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

With the loss leaving Fiorentina at the bottom of the table, the club announced a “media blackout” (silenzio stampa), forbidding players and staff from speaking to the press. Furthermore, the entire squad has been ordered into an immediate, indefinite training “retreat” (ritiro) at the Viola Park training complex. After the loss to Verona, players went back home and then returned to the training complex in black vans.

The decisions signal profound institutional reflection over the team’s disastrous run of form. The club is reportedly holding meetings to decide the technical future of the team, and the most likely outcome is the dismissal of Vanoli.

Should the change be made, the Corriere dello Sport report that Davide Ballardini—who was reportedly present at the stadium—is the most discussed name to take over the managerial hot seat and attempt to save the Viola from relegation.
