Francesco Pio Esposito reveals goal on Italy debut is just the beginning

Pio Esposito has downplayed the weight of his debut goal for Italy against Estonia, calling it a promising start rather than the peak. In an interview with Sky Italia (via TMW), the young forward reflected on the moment as a milestone on what he hopes will be a long and fruitful international journey.

Esposito admitted the goal still feels a bit surreal, saying he โ€œstill needs to realiseโ€ exactly what heโ€™s achieved. But he quickly shifted focus to the future: โ€œThis is only the beginning.โ€ He stressed that while the goal was special, it doesnโ€™t define his careerโ€”he wants consistency, growth and many more performances at this level.

He further claimed: โ€œIโ€™m a very self-critical person who doesnโ€™t like to settle [for less].โ€

He dedicated the goal for the Azzurri to his parents, saying: โ€œTo my family, who have always been there and helped me achieve my goals.โ€

The 19-year-oldโ€™s composure in stepping up when called upon has caught attention, and his attitude now suggests heโ€™s eager not to rest on early success. Rather than bask in acclaim, Esposito wants to prove he can repeat it โ€” for club and country.

His comments provide insight into a young talent unafraid to dream bigger, grounded enough to know that one moment is just that โ€” a moment โ€” not the destination.
