Pio Esposito has downplayed the weight of his debut goal for Italy against Estonia, calling it a promising start rather than the peak. In an interview with Sky Italia (via TMW), the young forward reflected on the moment as a milestone on what he hopes will be a long and fruitful international journey.
Esposito admitted the goal still feels a bit surreal, saying he โstill needs to realiseโ exactly what heโs achieved. But he quickly shifted focus to the future: โThis is only the beginning.โ He stressed that while the goal was special, it doesnโt define his careerโhe wants consistency, growth and many more performances at this level.
He further claimed: โIโm a very self-critical person who doesnโt like to settle [for less].โ
He dedicated the goal for the Azzurri to his parents, saying: โTo my family, who have always been there and helped me achieve my goals.โ
