Inter confirm Lautaro Martinez injury with Barcelona second leg approaching

Inter have today put out a statement confirming the injury sustained by Lautaro Martinez. As per the bulletin, it is an elongation of the flexor muscles in his left thigh. While the club have said they will keep continuing to assess and evaluate his injury, for Nerrazzuri fans this is a massive cause of concern. Barcelona travel to Milan midweek and not having their club captain and talismanic goalscorer.

Martinez picked up the injury in the 3-3 win against the Blaugrana in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals. He had to be substituted right have the injury and Mehdi Taremi came on to replace him. The Iranian is thus likely to start the next game, with Marcus Thuram.

However, the Argentinian is interestingly Interโ€™s all time leading goalscorer in the competition and this season has netted 8 goals already. The expectation from the Italian media is that Lautaro will not be able to make it in time for the game, while some are quoting a return to full action only after 10 days.
