Interโ€™s Denzel Dumfries undergoes surgery: Dutchmanโ€™s months-long absence forces Nerazzurri into January transfer market

Interโ€™s Denzel Dumfries has had surgery on the tendons in his left ankle. The Nerazzurriโ€™s Dutch international underwent a procedure on Tuesday morning at the Fortius Clinic in London after issues had kept him sidelined for over a month.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, a recovery time has yet to be announced, although it is expected that heโ€™ll be out for at least two to three months.

With the absence of their 69-cap Oranje right-back, Inter will be pushed to find a replacement in the winter window, and already, a shortlist has been formulated. Christian Chivuโ€™s side are reportedly interested in Genoaโ€™s Brooke Norton-Cuffy (21), Dinamo Zagrebโ€™s Moris Valincic (23), and Pisaโ€™s Idrissa Toure (27).

In the case of Norton-Cuffy, Inter will have to surpass Napoliโ€™s rejected โ‚ฌ12 million offer, with Juventus also said to be interested. Valincic arrives as a more cost-effective option, but would need much more time than the Englishman to adapt to Serie A. Pisaโ€™s Toure is believed to be valued somewhere between Norton and Valincic.

Marco Palestra (20) arrives as another option, although a January move would be very difficult, as Cagliari probably wonโ€™t want to end their loan of the Atalanta starlet early. Furthermore, thereโ€™s a chance that the Bergamo club may want the Azzurri U21 man to develop at the New Balance Arena next season. In the meantime, Interโ€™s recruitment have a lot of thinking to do.
