Serie A giants Inter have seen Yann Sommer struggle between the sticks this season and this is now leading to the likelihood of Josep Martinez getting more opportunities.
Pasquale Guarro reports that while there is concern about Sommerโs performances, Inter do not want to rush into abrupt changes.
They are still confident about the Switzerland international after his performance against Ajax but there is belief at the club that they will rotate goalkeepers more regularly. The idea is to test Martinezโs capability more regularly and as a result, he can feature in Interโs next two games.
This doesnโt mean that he is the clubโs undisputed first-choice. Instead, he is slowly being tested for that role, which could be his next season if things go right.
Sommer will depart next summer and Martinez impressed in the campaign, he will be his replacement and Inter might not have to sign anyone else.
