Interโ€™s Yann Sommer after win over Udinese: โ€œIt can be a huge winโ€

Serie A champions Inter picked up a vital 2-1 win over Udinese today and it could prove to be a vital three points in the title race.

As a result of the win, Inter rose to six points above chasers Napoli but it is also key because the Partenopei take on Milan later today in what could be a decisive game for Antonio Conteโ€™s side and their chase for the Scudetto.

Yann Sommer had made an impressive save off Lorenzo Lucca during Interโ€™s win and it came at a point when the Friulians had made it 2-1 through Oumar Solet. But the Swiss goalkeeperโ€™s efforts made sure that Inter picked up all three points.

Sommer spoke to the press after the win and described it as a win that can be huge in the context of the campaign.

He said, via TMW: โ€œWe are happy to have played a good first half, we were in control of the match. In the second half we suffered, it is important to have brought home the three points.โ€

When asked about the value of todayโ€™s win for the table, he said: โ€œCertainly, todayโ€™s victory is important for the standings. In any case, we have our heads ahead of the standings: the match against Udinese weighs a lot in this part of the season.โ€

If Napoli fail to beat Milan today, Inter will definitely extend their lead at the top of the table to over three points. The Nerazzurriโ€™s remaining few games come against opposition from the lower half of the table and this can hand them a major advantage in the title race.
