Italy boss Luciano Spalletti on Arsenalโ€™s Riccardo Calafiori: โ€œHis knee feels strangeโ€

Arsenal could be dealt with an injury blow before the restart of the season, as Riccardo Calafiori seems to have picked up a knee problem.

The defender had started for Italy against Germany yesterday and played the entire game, as the Azzurri picked up a 2-1 loss. Sandro Tonali had scored early but goals from Leon Goretzka and Tim Kleindienst made sure that Die Mansschaft went home with a crucial lead in the quarter-finals of the Nations League.

After the game, Spalletti was asked about Calafioriโ€™s situation and he spoke about a knee problem that the Arsenal player encountered during the game.

He said, via TMW: โ€œWe donโ€™t know about Calafiori, his knee feels strange but he canโ€™t answer the question of what he feels.โ€

Spalletti added uncertainty to the situation and revealed that he has no idea about the extent of the injury.

He said: โ€œI canโ€™t quite figure it out at the moment, unfortunately his stud came off while he was trying to get back on the pass.โ€

Calafiori has a history of knee injuries since his younger days and he has had fitness problems even this season for Mikel Artetaโ€™s side. He has played 26 times in all competitions for Arsenal, scoring three goals despite coming across knee and calf injuries.
