Serie A side Atalanta suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain yesterday and it coud have been worse.
Despite that, manager Ivan Juric remains optimistic about the side and made it clear that the gap in the two sides is huge and there is no surprise that the scoreline is massive.
After theย game, the Croatian spoke to Sky Italia and was asked multiple things.
He said, via TuttoAtalanta: โNo, I canโt fault the attitude. After the 1-0, we reacted well and played 20-25 minutes of play. But the difference in quality was enormous, Iโd say abysmal. Against a team like that, it was inevitable that we would struggle.โ
Daniel Maldini had started the game but had a disappointing performance. Juric was asked about the possibility of playing a pure forward.
โItโs not a question of courage. Maldini should have played the role the way Krstoviฤ did in the second half. The tactical idea was the same, the interpretation wasnโt optimal, but the choice wasnโt wrong in itself.โ
Atalanta are missing several key players and Juric was asked about how their returns can change the scenario.
โThese are four very significant absences, their impact is clear. Despite this, Iโm taking several positive signs from this match: I saw young players like Kossounou, Bernasconi, Bellanova, Hien, Musah, and Brescianini who can grow and compete at this level. With the injured players back, weโll be more complete and competitive.โ
La Dea havenโt got off to a strong start in Serie A and the trriumh came at the weekend against Lecce.
