Jose Mourinho hails Antonio Conte as ‘one of the best’ for team preparation ahead of Champions League clash

Ahead of the Champions League match between Benfica and Napoli, coach José Mourinho provided strong praise for his counterpart, Napoli manager Antonio Conte, highlighting the Italian’s exceptional ability to prepare his teams.

The two managers have a long history of intense battles, having faced each other during their respective tenures at clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham in the Premier League, as well as in Serie A.

According to quotes from Mourinho’s press conference reported by Tuttomercatoweb, he described Conte as one of the very best tacticians in football when it comes to preparation.

When asked what he thinks of Conte’s teams, Mourinho replied: “It is impossible to think that his teams are bad, there is a compactness and tactical awareness of the highest level. He is very demanding in the transfer market, he always finds a way to build a strong squad. From the point of view of preparation he is one of the best.”

Mourinho’s comments confirm his high regard for Conte’s methodical approach to football, particularly the detailed work he puts into team construction and preparation ahead of a major European clash.

Napoli have seven points in the Champions League so far this season. Benfica are facing more of a struggle, having won just a single game so far in the competition.
