Juventus earmark Hojberg and Bernabe as holding midfielder for Spalletti

Juventus are prepared to provide coach Luciano Spalletti with reinforcements throughout the winter transfer window as the Bianconeri begin their pursuit in acquiring the former Roma, Inter, and Napoli boss a holding midfielder.

La Gazzetta dello Sportย reports that the Bianconeri have deemed Marseille midfielder Pierre-Emille Hojberg as the ideal candidate for the deep-lying midfielder, whom has proven to be pivotal at the French giants under Roberto De Zerbi upon his arrival from Tottenham nearly two years ago, having featured in all 12 matches of the Ligue 1 thus far.ย

As it stands, the Danish internationalโ€™s contract with Marseille is set to expire in the summer of 2028. Despite the potential difficulty, the Bianconeri feel that they could possibly persuade De Zerbi by adding a player that he coached while at the helm of Sassuolo who flourished throughout his time at the Nerroverdi if needed into the formula of a structured deal, Manuel Locatelli.ย

In addition, the Milanese journal indicates that the Bianconeri have also identified Parmaโ€™s Adrian Bernabe as an alternative signing in midfield.ย

So far this season, the 24-year-old Spanish international has heavily impressed under coach Carlos Cuesta having scored two goals in eleven matches in the Serie A, one of them being against Milan over the past weekend which inspired a comeback in order to seal a vital point in a 2-2 draw at the Ennio Tardini against the Rossonerri.ย

With Juventus currently finding themselves in sixth place with 19 points following an abysmal performance against Torino in which they were unable to convert any chances in a scoreless draw, the Bianconeri hope that they can change the course of the season by providing the Italian tactician with a classic โ€œregistaโ€, one that can provide equilibrium between the defence and the central play-makers.
