Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti was sharply critical of his teamโs performance following their draw, insisting the squadโs standard must be elevated and that they committed unacceptable technical errors, as reported by TuttoJuve citing his comments to DAZN.
Analyzing the match, Spalletti focused immediately on the execution errors that plagued the team, particularly in the first half. He stated that the level of quality on display was beneath what the club requires.
โI could confirm your analysis, in the sense that we were actually too academic in the first half and we made mistakes that, from a quality point of view, we probably cannot make, because our level must be superior to what we showed,โ Spalletti stated. โTherefore it is not something we did well, we absolutely must raise the level of everything to come onto insidious pitches like this and win.โ
Later in the interview, when discussing specific tactical failures, the coach again pointed to unforced errors, concluding that the team simply needs to be better: โWhen we did that, we freed someone up on the edge of the area, we misplaced the pass, so we need to raise our level, thatโs all there is to it.โ
Spalletti noted that the teamโs disappointment was evident in the locker room, suggesting the players agreed with his assessment. โThe silence of the players when they returned to the locker room highlights one thing for me: that they too are not happy with their performanceโฆ But then it is clear that we have to go on the pitch and play a different kind of football. If we donโt succeed, we are what we show.โ
