Roma’s winter market plans are beginning to revolve around a singular, ambitious pivot. According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via SoloLaRoma), Joshua Zirkzee has emerged as the designated centerpiece of the new project under Gian Piero Gasperini.
The Roma manager is reportedly desperate to reunite with the Dutch forward, viewing him as the ideal profile to lead the line and implement his tactical vision at the Stadio Olimpico. For his part, Zirkzee has already given his approval to the move, motivated by the desire to return to Serie A and regain a starring role after a difficult stint at Manchester United.
The forward has reportedly received concrete assurances regarding his position in the hierarchy, being promised a starting spot and a leading role in the club’s offensive development. To bridge the gap with the Premier League side, Roma are expected to commit a fee in the region of €38 million to €40 million to secure the permanent transfer.
While the deal remains complex due to the financial scale, the shared will of the player and Gasperini has made Zirkzee the primary focus of the Giallorossi’s January window.
