Napoli and Milan interested in Genoa star defender Koni De Winter

Napoli and Milan have identified Genoa rising star Koni De Winter as a possible transfer target in order to bolster the back-line.

Daniele Longoย reports that since the arrival of coach Patrick Vieira at the Grifone in November following the dismissal of former club player Alberto Gilardino, the French tactician managed to quickly turn things around help Genoa climb out of the relegation battle, as they currently sit in 13th place with 39 points, fighting for a mid-table finish.ย

Throughout his well-implemented philosophy, Belgian international Koni De Winter has flourished and emerged as one of the top upcoming defenders in the league. The 22-year-old central defender has made a total of 21 appearances in the Serie A this season thus far.

Hence, the Italian journalist mentions that both the Partenopei and the Rossonerri are attracted by the central defender as a result of his consistent displays.

With the former Juventus defender having joined Genoa from the Bianconeri two seasons ago, an offer of at least โ‚ฌ18m would be needed to persuade the Rossoblu, whilst De Winter would most likely be intrigued to be returning to a top-flight Serie A side following his difficult period since graduating from the Juventus academy, where he was sent on loan twice and finally sold.
