Sandro Tonali has just helped Newcastle United win their first piece of silverware in decades and rumours of a return to Serie A are refusing to die down.
As per Daniele Longo (via calciomercato.com), Juventus and Milan are the two clubs who are interested in him.
The Juventus interest is understandable considering two of their midfield signings from the summer, Douglas Luiz and Teun Koopmeiners have not met expectations. Milan will perhaps always be in the conversation for Tonali, given the fact that he was adored by the fans when he was there. The midfielder hadnโt wanted a move away in the first place and is a boyhood fan of the Rossoneri. If anyone opportunity were to arise, he is unlikely to say no.
However, a move will be very difficult financially for the Italian clubs though. Tonali currently earns โฌ7m net a year with a further โฌ2m in bonuses. Newcastle will refuse to negotiate for anything below the โฌ60m they paid for him a couple of years ago.
The journalist has also stated that Tonali has communicated to his agents already that he would like to return to the Rossoneri in the future. This has been described as the playerโs dream. While this may not be the time for it, this will take some effort from Milan even in the future.
