Roma have explored a potential move for Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa, but the player’s current priority is to remain with the Premier League club, according to Il Tempo via SiamoLaRoma.
The report indicates that Roma’s sporting director Ricky Massara, conducted a survey to ascertain the former Juventus player’s intentions and Liverpool’s demands. Chiesa, who has struggled for playing time recently, prefers to stay at Anfield at the moment.
However, the situation is fluid. The report stresses that “the situation could change” between now and the January transfer window. Having fallen out of the Italian National Team’s immediate plans, and with the World Cup playoffs looming in March, Chiesa might decide to seek a club where he can play more consistently.
Like their pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee, Roma can only offer a loan deal with an option to buy, which complicates the negotiations for both Liverpool’s Chiesa and Zirkzee’s Manchester United.
