It has been clear that Artem Dovbyk is going to leave Roma this summer. The Ukrainian who had a good first season with the club is deemed to not be suitable to the football that new manager Gian Piero Gasperini wants to play. New loan signing Evan Ferguson is considered to be first choice and had a good debut against Bologna this weekend.
Dovbyk had been linked to a multitude of clubs including Milan but as per Gazzetta.it as well as reports in Spain, it seems like he is returning to La Liga. A loan deal has reportedly been agreed with Villarreal. The Spanish side are expected to cover the salary and there will be a buy option of about โฌ25-30m. This way Roma will get to save on a lot of salary space and Dovbyk returns to the league he won the top scorer in two years ago.
Roma ideally want a replacement before they let him go. Fabio Silva is a reported target but Borussia Dortmund are said to be close to agreeing a deal with him.
