Manu Kone has been one of the brighter spots in what has been an up and down Serie A season for Roma. The midfielder was signed from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer and has since made a permanent spot for himself in Claudio Ranieriโs midfield.
While speaking to Sky Sports (via TMW) earlier, the Frenchman spoke about his idols and reference points for his style of play when he was younger. The two names he highlighted were Paul Pogba and Yaya Toure. โI had two favourite players. The first is Pogba, itโs incredible what he did at Juventus and with France, he represented a lot for our national team. He was one of my idols, like Yaya Tourรฉ. They both had enormous careers, but I think that for my qualities and my style of play I can be compared a little to themโ, Kone told Sky.
This makes a lot of sense as like Pogba and Toure, Kone is also a box-to-box midfielder who can really dominant midfielder. While it is fair to say that there is still a long way to go for Kone to reach their level, it is important to remember that heโs only 23 years old.
In the same interview, Kone also spoke of the impact of Claudio Ranieri, who is going to leave at the end of the season. The Italian, according to the midfielder, plays a big role in correcting flaws in his game and pushing him to do better.
